Black Moonstone is a variety of feldspar belonging to the same mineral family as traditional Moonstone. Its dark grey to black body colour is often contrasted by flashes of silver, white, or peach caused by a phenomenon known as adularescence, created by light scattering within the stone's internal structure. Black Moonstone is found in locations including Madagascar, India, and Sri Lanka. It has a hardness of 6 to 6.5 on the Mohs scale.
