Flower Agate is a trade name for a variety of Chalcedony characterised by distinctive plume-like inclusions that resemble blossoms or flowers suspended within the stone. These patterns are created by mineral inclusions, often other chalcedony and silica-rich formations, which developed as the stone formed over millions of years. Most Flower Agate on the market today comes from Madagascar, where it is prized for its soft pink, peach, cream, and white colour combinations. With a hardness of 6.5 to 7 on the Mohs scale, each piece displays unique floral-like patterns, ensuring no two stones are ever exactly alike.
