Green Aventurine is a variety of quartz distinguished by tiny inclusions that create a subtle sparkling effect known as aventurescence. Its green colour is most commonly caused by inclusions of fuchsite, a chromium-rich mica, which can produce shades ranging from soft green to deep forest tones. Significant deposits are found in India, Brazil, Tanzania, and Russia. With a hardness of 7 on the Mohs scale, Green Aventurine gives its name to the optical phenomenon of aventurescence, which is now used to describe similar effects seen in other gemstones.
