Jasper Iron, also known as Jaspilite, is a striking banded rock composed primarily of Jasper and Hematite. The rich red tones are created by Jasper, while the metallic grey to black bands are formed by iron-rich Hematite, producing the distinctive patterns for which the material is known. Found in Western Australia, Jasper Iron is closely associated with some of the world's oldest geological formations and iron-rich deposits. With a hardness that typically ranges between 6.5 and 7 on the Mohs scale, Jasper Iron is valued for both its dramatic appearance and its connection to Australia's ancient geological history.
