Labradorite is a feldspar mineral renowned for its spectacular flashes of colour, which can appear in shades of blue, green, gold, orange, and even purple. These flashes are caused by light interacting with microscopic structures within the stone, creating an optical phenomenon known as labradorescence. Labradorite is found in locations including Canada, Madagascar, Finland, and Australia. With a hardness of 6 to 6.5 on the Mohs scale, Labradorite is best known for its remarkable play of colour, which can seem to appear and disappear as the stone moves through the light.
